From the Pastor's
Pen...
It is truly an honor to serve the Lord as your Pastor! You may ask yourself how
it is possible that Pastor Russ can serve the Lord as my pastor? The answer to
this question came to me many years ago in a Sunday school class. We were asked
to write a one-line epitaph for our tombstone. This one-line would be how
everyone would remember our time journey through this world.
Much to my surprise, I heard myself say something to the effect of: "He served
God by serving others." This on-line has become a purpose statement for my life
and it helps me each day to see that when I serve others, I am actually serving
the Lord; and even the most menial task can bring glory and honor to our
Creator.
Since setting my mind to "serve God by serving others" I have been honored to
share in the lives of others in ways that I never dreamed possible. I have found
that each of these experiences has helped me grow in my personal walk with
Christ.
Each of you have many ways in which you serve others and it is my hope and
prayer that you see this service as a way to praise and honor the Lord.
Can I pray for you?
If you are in need of prayer, please don't hesitate to contact me
either by phone at the church 663-3415 or call my cell phone 663-5557, or
e-mail:
pastorruss@grundyec.net. You may also fill out the prayer card located in
your Sunday church bulletin and drop it in the offering tray.
Would you like a pastoral visit?
A pastoral visit is a pre-scheduled time to meet with the pastor on a
one-on-one basis to visit about our lives and the ministry that we share. It is
my goal to visit with everyone in our congregation. This will take some time,
but rest assured I will make contact by phone and/or in person (don't worry
about cleaning your house, it is you I'm coming to see).
If you have an immediate need, please don't wait for me
to contact you--call me today! Call the church office at 663-3415, or my
cell phone 663-5557, or by e-mail:
pastorruss@grundyec.net. You may also fill out the prayer card in your
Sunday church bulletin and drop it in the offering tray. I look forward to
getting to know you better!
